The weather held fair and dry as the Club continued with their latest round of Saturday Competitions.

Up for contention this week was a Singles Competition sponsored by Collier Garden Services, which brought together a good entry of members trying to claim the accolade of winner.

After battling through some tough games, the two players who went on to contest the final were Mitchell Wilson and Robert Scott.

CLUB UPDATE 01.08.2020

The latest Competition at Menstrie Bowling Club was a drawn pairs held on Saturday 01st
August. Once again, an excellent turn out of members ensured a good afternoon of bowling with players battling to win their respective sections to reach the final.

After some tight matches the winners of the Section 1 were Mitchell Wilson and Danny
Devaney with Aidan Halley and Johnnie Hislop leading the way in Section 2.
The final was a keenly fought affair with Mitchell and Danny coming through to win the day.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks again to all the members who took part for their continued support.

In his remarks at the presentation President John Stalker highlighted the new club website and informed members that it had received over 1500 views since it went live in June and encouraged members to keep logging in to check for latest club information.

The President also informed members that although there was no competition planned for Saturday 8th August, the green and the bar would still be open for people who wanted to play a few ends and enjoy a refreshment. It is the intention to host another competition on Saturday 15th August, further information will be available soon.

The singles and pairs competitions are now up and running and the President reminded
members of the tight timescales for ties to be played and asked that they be played as soon as it is possible to do so.

CLUB COMPETITION & UPDATE 25.07.2020

Another fine day on the Green as the first trophy of the season was up for grabs.

The Over 60’s v Under 60’s was (fiercely) contested, when 20 members played over 17 ends for the bragging rights for the next year. After a hard-fought tussle, the Young Yin’s prevailed with a four shot victory and claimed the trophy.

Club President John Stalker, thanked all the players and highlighted the great spirit in which the game had been played and congratulated the winners before presenting the trophy to Aiden Halley, representing the winning Captain, Mitchell Wilson. John also commiserated with Matt Camley representing the losing side and also thanked Matt for the sterling job he does in organising the Senior section of the club.

The President also informed members that local funeral directors, Roy and McIntyre had again sponsored the club this season. In what has been a difficult time for all businesses their ongoing support is most welcome and greatly appreciated. The club would like to thank Tommy and Steven for their continuing assistance.

This Saturday the 1st August , the club will be holding a drawn pairs competition starting at 1.30pm. We hope to see as many members as possible on the green for which is sure to be another enjoyable day.
